Job Description: We are currently looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our European Platform team. This team is at the core of our business, working on essential areas such as payments, money, and client asset reconciliations. As a key technical lead, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure applications, contributing to innovative solutions that drive our business forward. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners and designers, to ensure that our codebase is efficient, clean, and aligned with secure coding standards.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop applications using Ruby on Rails within a core team focused on critical financial operations.
• Lead the design of technical solutions, ensuring high-performance and secure application architecture.
• Maintain and improve the existing codebase, including reducing technical debt.
• Work collaboratively with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions.
• Write well-tested code following secure coding standards.

Our Tech Environment:

• Backend: Ruby on Rails, some Python, MySQL, Postgres, Sidekiq, mostly API-based with some MVC and Lambdas.
• Frontend: React, NextJS, TypeScript, Storybook.
• Testing: Rspec, Cucumber, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress.
• Infrastructure: AWS.
• CI/CD: Github Actions, Buildkite.
• Work methodology: Scrum and Kanban with a “just enough” process mentality.

Position Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a backend engineer, specializing in Ruby on Rails.
• Demonstrated leadership in technical projects, including solution design and technical documentation.
• Fintech experience with an understanding of payment providers and financial regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently while managing projects efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in frontend development using React.
• Performance optimization skills, identifying bottlenecks and improving user experience.
• Familiarity with Web3 technologies and blockchain integration.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Airbrake, New Relic.
• Knowledge of API standards for REST and GraphQL.
• Experience with BI and analytics tools like Looker and Google Analytics.
