Job Description:

Senior Software Engineer – Karpenter. Integrate Karpenter with the Cast AI platform and enhance the open-source Kubernetes autoscaler with enterprise capabilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and operate backend services and Kubernetes operators in Go
  • Manage clusters alongside Karpenter
  • Participate in architecture and design decisions
  • Contribute to high-volume data-plane services using gRPC/REST protocols
  • Develop asynchronous workflows
  • Shape public and internal APIs, prioritizing simplicity and developer experience
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations
  • Conduct occasional customer deep-dive sessions

Position Requirements:

Must have:

  • Strong software engineering background with distributed systems and backend development experience
  • Go language proficiency (or willingness to transition to Go)
  • Advanced debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning capabilities
  • Deep cloud platform knowledge: hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure
  • Kubernetes expertise for containerization and orchestration
  • CI/CD and DevOps practices experience
  • Fluent English (verbal and written)
  • Independent and collaborative work capability
  • Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity

Nice to have:

  • Contributions to the Kubernetes or cloud-native open-source ecosystem
  • Prior Karpenter experience
